I am a Somali American therapist who grew up in the Dadaab refugee camp and came to the United States through refugee resettlement. I built my education and career while learning a new country and culture.
That experience does not mean I assume I understand your story. It helps me appreciate how migration, identity, faith, family expectations, loss, opportunity, and responsibility can exist together. You decide what parts of your experience belong in therapy.

We identify what you want to change and build a plan together. I will explain what we are doing and why.
Depending on your needs, we may draw from CBT, SFBT, DBT skills, person-centered therapy, and trauma-informed care.
Culture, faith, family, work, and personal values are considered without stereotypes or assumptions.
I work with school-age children, adolescents, and adults. Adults often come to therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma or PTSD, prolonged stress, anger, relationship strain, cultural adjustment, or difficulty moving forward. Children and teens may need help with emotional regulation, anxiety, school stress, communication, behavior, developmental differences, or major changes at home or school. No one needs to have everything figured out before the first session.
Appointments are available in person in Moorhead, Minnesota, and by secure telehealth while you are physically located in Minnesota or North Dakota.
